And just like that life gets in the way…

It looks like it has been quite awhile since I last posted.

So much stuff has happened since June….here is a quick photo re-cap.

I am back full time as an Office Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper – which means I get to work with my bestie again! So that’s been really good.

The summer consisted a lot of fun times at the family cottage, hanging out with friends, and other life related things that I won’t publicly post on here.

Some sad family stuff  happened:

Nana Louise passing away… but it was nice that she got to see the cottage and the kiddies…and other family stuff.

Patrice came back from Japan too so that was good – he introduced me to Pokemon Go (which I will be honest I have lost total interest in….but it was fun while it lasted).

Kainen turned 7 and Brady turned 2!  (My nephews) which I can’t believe.  Mason is also growing so quickly – it’s amazing how fast time is flying.

The hubby and I got to take a mini vacation for our 5 year wedding anniversary and went to Kingston (1000 Islands – which I thought was pretty cool).

We basically have been keeping busy with friends and life and having a good time.

We got to go to plenty of our nieces’ soccer games which was amazing.

Thanksgiving we had some family pictures done at the cottage – which was pretty cool.

We also had our Thanksgiving dinner there – which was pretty cool!

I went to a friends for Halloween and we all dressed up which was pretty fun.

And of course I have had plenty of hair color changes –

Red head, what?

So basically I’ve been pretty busy… and now Christmas is around the corner…BUT FIRST – THE GILMORE GIRLS REVIVAL!  Who else is excited for this? I am! I got so excited I edited the poster to my best friends face (and my face as well). We are doing an entire day when it comes out (with her husband too!) gilmore-girls-redux

I think that this is it for now!  Maybe I will write something with more substance at a later time… but the Thong Song by Sisqo just came on so….yeah. No serious writing for me right now.

Happy Sunday!

This is my new favorite picture of my husband and I.

It was taken right after good friends of ours were married.

For the first time in forever I felt pretty – I think it was the dress (thank you Suzy Shier) and I had my hair done and had a mani- pedi!

Because sometimes you just have to Treat Yo Self.

We had such an amazing day.

I still can’t believe our 5 year wedding anniversary is in August.

Just wow.

It is a funny concept to even consider that I am really an “adult” and that I actually need to make adult decisions and actually do adult-y things.

The past couple of weekends I have been going to the bank and discussing…well banking type things…and our future.

Talking about investments, RRSP’s, TFSA’s, mutual funds, a future mortgage….and I was sitting here today thinking to myself “when did I become an adult?”  I mean honestly when?

But now I am 31 (turning 32) and as much as I am in denial about this, in my thirties.  It’s just wild to think that 10 years ago I was in such a different place in my life and now I am talking about retirement plans, mutual funds, etc.

10 years ago I was dancing my face away, studying, going to school and probably (who are we kidding – definitely) making some bad decisions.

Coming out of the bank today though (besides feeling too adult-y) I felt really good about things though.  I just find it funny that I have a “financial lady”.

I am officially a (responsible) adult.

I think the holidays made me realize just how important self-care actually is. Even just by doing “nothing” for a few hours and allowing yourself to re-charge is extremely important.

I slept a lot on Saturday and Sunday – and I felt incredibly guilty for it.

But I think it was my body telling me “Hey – you, you need this.”  As I had a very stressful, very busy couple of weeks…in between work, commuting from work, and travelling for the holidays – I think my body had enough.

So I shouldn’t feel guilty …even though I know there were probably some house tasks I could have accomplished.  But certainly, did not.

It reminded me of something that I learned in one of my courses that I took last year on how important just giving yourself  that time (even as little as 5 minutes) can be.

I think that we all often forget to give ourselves that time – whether it’s reading a book, meditation, going to the gym/working out/Yoga /Zumba, etc.

But I hate feeling guilty for giving myself that time – even if it was sleeping.  ( I also think that the good old cold is going to hit me soon – I can feel it and usually right before I get sick my body just sorta tells me).

I  know that “sleeping too  much” is not a great thing – but there is nothing better than staying under the nice, cozy comforter and building the greatest pillow fort known to man and just be.

pillow fort

omg this would be heaven!

I think that I need to feel a little less guilty about it as I know that that time is limited.

I also don’t want to burn out.

I think I need to start taking care of myself a little more – and feel less guilty about it.

I noticed that my stress level has increased and it’s starting to show it’s ugly head through every day life.  So tonight I put on my face mask, and gave myself a mini spa night. Just so I can recharge a bit as I go back to the grind tomorrow.

Blogging also helps me refocus and allows me to vent my frustrations out. 🙂

Thanks to this nifty Christmas gift from my husband, I can blog my little heart out. #2016goals

On that note, I think I am going to make myself a cup of tea, remove my face mask and try to get some shut eye shortly.

Keep it real homeslice(s)

Welcome 2016

Wow! I can’t believe another year has come and gone – and I can’t believe how TERRIBLE I have been with updating this!

I looked back and saw that my last update was back in June! CRAZY.

7 months!

A lot can/did happen in that time – I am going to try and keep it brief.

  1. New Job – I got a new job – in the health field (not sure if I updated my last post on that – which is mainly why I’ve been so busy too haha). I started that at the end of July!  It is what I went to school for – so that’s a plus.
  2. I became an Independent Distributor with It Works!  It was a great experience for me but I have decided to put that on hold. My husband and I have had a lot of discussion over it and it just wasn’t working out for me anymore (but the product is definitely amazing and I will be continuing to use them – love the wraps!).
  3. Because of my commute to work back and forth I’ve been spending a lot more time with my nephews and my sister in law (and brother) which has made me super happy. I also really love being an Aunt. I love my boys. They are so great.
  4. I found out I am going to be an Aunt again in March! Another nephew haha the boys just keep coming along!!! I am super excited!!!
  5. I’ve definitely haven’t been so focused on my health/fitness like I should be…but I am not going to make any unrealistic goals – just that I should probably rejoin the gym – I am so out of shape (again).
  6. In February, my husband and I will have been together for 8 years (we started dating 8 years ago) and in August it will be our 5th Wedding Anniversary – which I think is CRAY.
  7. Our Ginger friend left for Japan and has left a piece of our life gingerless. Son of a bitch.
  8. Our other son – Christopher -we visited for his birthday and he is doing as well has could be expected.
  9. My new motto (which I don’t think is really new persay) for 2016 is “No Pants? No Problem.”
  10. I think this year is going to be pretty awesome – I am going to focus more on self-care and having fun with Brian.

So, this was my little update – hope everyone is keeping well!!
